The helicopter Ka-226 was built in 1997 and is a modernization of helicopter Ka-126. The helicopter had two engines Allison 250-C20 installed for security reasons. If one of the engines on Ka-226 failed, the climbing was provided for. The re-equipment of the base model into any other modification was done by the way of partial dismantling of equipment and installation of additional designation equipment. In the sanitary and rescue version for the Emergency Situations Ministry, the helicopter had an option of installation of electric winch with weight-carrying capacity – 300 kg, with suspended container with emergency-rescue equipment, loud-speaker and search-light.
