Long-distance bomber Er-2 was built in 1940 and was produced on aviation plant #18 in Voronezh. Before the beginning of the war several dozens of this aircraft were built. In 1944 on Irkutsk plant #39, mass production of new modification Er-2 with the diesel engines Ach-30B started. The pilots liked the bomber for the comfortable cockpit with the good view, its stability, manageability, strong armament and survivability. In total, during the period 1944-1946, on Irkutsk aviation plant 391 bombers Er-2 were built.
